Who is behind your test

Tim Hittinger

Tim has been flying for as long as he can remember: first model aircraft, gliding with special permission at 13½, his first solo shortly after his 14th birthday. At 16 he started his PPL(A), including aerotow and night ratings. Today he holds a LAPL, PPL and microlight licence, is a safety pilot on the PC-12 and TBM 930 and is completing his ATPL training at the Aero-Beta flight school in Stuttgart.

In December 2020 he co-founded GAT; since April 2021 he has been an ICAO language examiner for Levels 4–6 – with more than 1,200 assessments for airline, commercial and private pilots to date. He is also a radio examiner (BZF/AZF) for the German Federal Network Agency and, since 2025, has also examined for Munich Airport. Off duty he has been playing the drums since the age of six – preferably heavy metal.

Jan Westphal

Jan started gliding in 2017, obtained his SPL in 2020 and extended his training via TMG, microlight and SEP to a PPL(A) with night rating. Alongside GAT, he teaches air law and communications at a German flight school and is attending an ATPL course.

Johannes Schmelz

Johannes flies long-haul as a professional pilot with a major airline. English on international frequencies is part of his everyday work – and he brings this experience into the tests.
